PRIMARY COORDINATOR

Dear Parents,

As we draw quickly towards the end of the term, we can look back and reflect on some of the achievements in our first term of 2019. First and foremost would be the settling in of the youngest members of our school community and how wonderfully well they have achieved this. Prep students now have commenced to understand the structure of the days of the week at school and are working very well in their classroom environment.

Parent Information Session:

There was a good turnout at the session, with many families attending the evening. Information evenings for parents are important occasions for starting to build trust with them and setting the tone for a productive year. It helps parents to know the expectations of the school and to learn about how they can assist their child to succeed.

Swimming Program:

Each year, students in Foundation to Grade 4 have the opportunity to participate in an intensive swimming program held at the end of Term 1, for a week. As always, we hope to see a very successful program, the continuing progress of all students, and as well, the fun they will have every day.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Our students performed a Punjabi dance at Kids’ Town for the launch of Diversity Week on Monday, 18th March. On Friday, it was great to see everyone dressed in their traditional clothes and involved in various activities within their classrooms as well as the family picnic. Thanks to all the parents who joined us in celebrating this special day.

Attendance

Why is good attendance and punctuality important?

Frequent absences have a huge impact on children’s learning. Regular attendance of children at school is crucial to their learning, well-being and life successes. It is a key to both academic and social development of children. Therefore, parents are reminded of their responsibility, to make certain that all children attend school regularly.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to those families who have been working hard to ensure children’s punctuality and attendance at school is high, and for getting these important habits established early on in your child’s life, as it will make a difference to their future.

There is a link between attendance and achievement, therefore it is very important that your child attends school every day unless there are exceptional circumstances.

What does 90% attendance mean?

Whenever your child is absent please notify the school either by phone on the day (58588200) or with a note when the child returns to school. If you are travelling overseas or interstate for 1 or more weeks, please inform the office and also complete the Long Term Absence form on Process Maker as soon as your travel plans are finalised.

Parent –Teacher Interviews:

Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held from Tuesday, 30th April-Thursday,2nd May. More information regarding this will be sent to you soon. It is critical that teachers and parents develop effective relationships to bridge students’ learning between home and school. If due to unavoidable circumstances, you are unable to make it to the interview, please organise another time with your child’s teacher during the term.

Thank you for your continued support,

Regards,
Mrs. Tarbinder Pandher
